In 1986, Peter Bakis purchased Highland Cleaners in hopes of servicing the Holbrook/Braintree area with exceptional quality and the most competitive prices in the business. Immediately after acquiring the plant Mr. Bakis proceeded to modernize with the latest in dry cleaning technology giving Highland Cleaners a competitive edge against the competition. As a result, business grew substantially. In the mid-to-late 90’s Highland Cleaners, then known as Holbrook Highland Cleaners, was able to open drop-off/pickup stores throughout the South Shore, including locations Weymouth, Duxbury, and two stores in Kingston. After 20 years in the business, Mr. Bakis has stepped down as president of the company and passed the title onto his son, Nikolaos. With exceptional management and new ideas for the industry, Galaxy Cleaners was established and will continue to grow with the same business concept the company was born with, exceptional quality and the most competitive prices in the business.
